Who can submit an application?

Any individual or organisation in any country can submit an application for a laboratory initiative provided that they are responsible for the initiative and the initiative meets the category description.  Entries to the Making a Difference category can be made on behalf of others, however the individual should be made aware of the application.  Note the Laboratory-based Teaching and Learning category is aimed at educational institutions, and the Schools and Colleges category is for schools and FE colleges only.

Can I submit an application if I am not associated with a university?

Several of the categories are open to any organisation. However the Laboratory-based Teaching and Learning category is aimed at educational institutions, and the Schools and Colleges category is for schools only.

Can I submit an application from outside the UK?

Yes, provided the application is in English.

Can I submit more than one application in the same category?

Yes you can submit more than one application in the same category.

Can we submit the same application to more than one category?

No – please submit the same application to the most relevant category. If the judges decide that the application would be more appropriate in another category they will advise you of this.

What is the application process?

There is a two-stage application process. The Stage 1 application is a short 3 page entry form.  Entries to Stage 1 will be assessed to see if they meet the conditions of entry and judged on several criteria including benefits, completeness, effort, originality and significance.  Successful applicant will be asked to complete a Stage 2 application form which will ask for more information.

How do I submit an application?

Please complete the Stage 1 Application Form available here and email to S-Lab@bradford.ac.uk 

When is the deadline for Stage 1?

Noon on 29 February 2012.

When will I hear if my application has been successful?

Successful applicants for Stage 1 will be notified by email by mid March.

When is the deadline for Stage 2?

The Stage 2 deadline will be 27 April 2012.

When will I hear if I’ve won an award?

Winners and commended entries for the Awards will be announced at the S-Lab conference in York, 12-13 June 2012.

Is there a prize associated with the award?

Winners and commended entries will receive a Certificate and associated publicity.
